I came across two strikingly contrasting reflections, which somehow, in their own way, define me completely..
1. "If you are first, you are first. If you are second, you are nothing." - Bill Shankly
2. This is the world of business.
The real world,
The world that matters.
What is my position in this world?
At the fringes.
Or, none at all.
Because I don't feel a part of it.
I am aloof.
I feel more like the flower in the pot on the terrace wall.
What place does that flower, do the random trees around have in this electronic city?
They do not matter. Not in the scheme of things.
Yet, to imagine the area bared of them all..!
Atleast that flower would be confident of the definite role it plays, of its importance in this world of electronics and economics.
I am still unsure...
Reflection No. 1 elucidates the power-hungry me, the ambitious, success-craving, confident, upwardly mobile me. It portrays that side of me which wants be on the cover of some leading business magazine (Forbes, maybe ;). On the other hand, Reflection No. 2 is in touch with my 'other side', the emotional, vulnerable, slightly illogical, unsure me.
Who am I? A question that remains unanswered till today..

I totally share both these line of thoughts with you...well, they say life is all about balancing different perspectives...and ur pts.1 n 2 clearly lie on the opposite ends of the scale...
I guess, in the end the whole dilemma can be resolved by perceiving the situation and donning the role as per the requirement...
nd yes, as u think of Forbes, TIME's cover is where you can look for me... :D
Bedi.
Bedi, you rock! :).. Can't wait for you to get here. Do you blog?
It's the meeting of the two extremes which matter. We need both the points.
The 1st point makes one successful. Second point is essential for being a good Human Being. The ultimate goal is to be a Successful Good Human Being.
My point of view only :)

Well with in an year, am sure you would find the answer on your own! that's the 'B'eauty of the place you are in!
As strange as this may sound, I don't think the two ways of thinking you talk about in your post are antithetical at all.
My personal experience (which isn't all that expansive, I must confess; this shouldn't, however, in any way undermine the merit of my argument) seems to point to the fact that people who are confident, and successful, and comfortable with their individuality, are very often the ones who acknowledge their 'emotional, vulnerable, slightly illogical' sides.
On the other hand, people who find success and confidence elusive are usually the ones who've, in all probability, never even asked themselves what it is that they want from life, or, for that matter, who they are.
As is usual with matters concerning self-discovery, it's not so much about being sure of the answer as it is about asking the question.
It's a cyclical, slightly convoluted argument, but I hope I have succeeded in putting my point across.
P.S. - You write well, kiddo. I shall be expecting great things from this blog. :D
Manu, kiddo?
Anirban, Mohit, Vijay, Manu.. Your arguements are enough to convince me that I'm not such a psycho after all ;)
hey parul,
didnt know you had a blog all geared up. so have u left for bangalore??
Parul...nice writing....and like I said earlier...the quote by Mr. Shankly sums it up pretty well...all the best to you for your time at B, and after that. :)
P.S. Keep writing...
Confluence of extremes indeed. Though somehow I think being able to walk would be miles better than being stuck in animal waste and mud all day.
